Sunday 13th April (Real 13th)

Sunday Night 7.45pm 13/4/08.

A beautiful and even occasionally sunny day greeted us in Edinburgh. Today was about the history of the town and Scottish Rugby. We began with a walk to Princes St, then up to Edinburgh Castle. The boys enjoyed the beauty and the history as we learned of hundreds of years of battles, Kings, Queens and the enemy. (Yes, Mr Bale kept his accent to himself) It also provides amazing views of the city.

The boys then spent time exploring the Royal Mile and sections of the Old City before catching a bus to Murrayfield, the home of Scottish Rugby. We received a guided tour that included the media rooms, dressing rooms and the pitch, while being enlightened on the origins of the game and its changes throughout history. The boys also learnt about some of the history of the Leslie clan (and were they got their looks) when we were joined on the tour by Fergus’ parents, Bob and Catherine. Happy birthday Mrs Leslie.

We had a productive training session in the park this afternoon and are about to head down for dinner together. This will be followed by a night time ‘Ghost Chasers’ tour through the Old Cities’ underground and cemeteries. Normally we wouldn’t worry about the big, tough Rugby boys being scared but having read your comments on the blog some of the boys may need their teddies or mummy’s kisses tonight. On that, thanks for your comments, and be sure that none of the other boys are enjoying their teammates missing their favourite hugs or sleeping toys.

Tomorrow we plan to spend a little more time around the New City and Princes St, then it’s time to see whatever hairs are left on Mr Leslies body stand on end as we relive battles at Stirling and Wallas Monument on our way Fort William.

Ferg,Bryn and Boys,
Wish I could be with you to experience another Scottish tour.
Enjoy every moment of what will be a trip of a lifetime and memories that will last forever.
Boys, remember that Evo is an easy target for the red pen when he falls asleep on the bus during those long trips.
Enjoy the Rugby, hospitality and sights.

Hello Boys

Thinking of you all on what will probably be the trip of a lifetime for many of you. Never take one moment for granted, enjoy the football, mateship and travel and promise me you will not let evo, bale or the token scotsman get away with anything....
Enjoy Scotland and all she has to offer.
Have fun Robbo xxx

ps. Is that David Nolan I see in some of the photos? If it is, what a pleasant surprise to see his happy face, guess you needed another boy to look after Fergus?
:) Take care and treasure the moments!
